Louisville Offense Continues Hot Streak in Fifth Straight Win
March 11, 2026 | Baseball
Louisville (12-5) stretched its winning streak to five with its fourth mercy-rule victory during that period.
In the two-game sweep of Marshall, the Cardinals scored 34 runs on 36 hits, blasting eight home runs and 17 total extra-base hits.
The two sides traded first inning runs on Wednesday, with Tague Davis getting the Cards on the board with a run-scoring single.
Marshall (8-8) would grab the lead back with a run in the second, but it would be the last time the Thundering Herd led on the day.
George Baker knotted the game up at two with a single in the second and Louisville grabbed its first lead of the day on a bases loaded walk to Lucas Moore.
Zion Rose would single home a run to add to the lead before Davis hit an 0-2 pitch onto the berm for Louisville's second grand slam in as many games. The long ball also extended Davis' home run streak to five consecutive games.
The Cardinals put a seven-spot on the board in the second inning for the third time in the last five games.
The offense didn't slow from there though. Alex Alicea doubled in a run in the third before Davis rifled out his second homer of the day, this time a three-run shot.
One inning later, Lucas Moore doubled home Baker and Rose followed with a three-run blast to left for his first homer of the season as the Cardinals led 17-2 after four innings.
Ben Slanker launched Louisville's fourth homer of the day in the sixth, one day after he homered twice.
Eleven different Cardinals recorded at least one hit on the day, led by three-hit games from Rose, Davis and Bayram Hot. Davis drove in a career-high eight RBIs in the win, matching Slanker's total from Tuesday.
Colton Hartman (1-1) was the beneficiary of the offense on Wednesday, picking up the win with two earned runs allowed in five innings.
Louisville now enters Atlantic Coast Conference play, hosting Notre Dame for three games this weekend. The series begins on Friday at 6 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
