No. 6 Louisville Remains Perfect With 1-0 Victory at Ohio State
September 09, 2025 | Men's Soccer
The Cards have yet to allow a goal this season, shutting out all five of their opponents.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 6/4 University of Louisville men's soccer team (5-0-0) maintained its unblemished record with a 1-0 victory at Ohio State on Tuesday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The Cardinals got on the board early when Chase Vazquez converted in the fourth minute for his third goal of the season and his second consecutive game-winner. Bilal Camara provided the assist on the play, threading a pass that set up the decisive finish.
From there, Louisville's defense and goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff carried the lead the rest of the way. The Cardinals recorded their fifth consecutive shutout, as Svetanoff collected two saves to secure the clean sheet and move to 5-0-0 on the year.
Ohio State (2-3-0) outshot Louisville 12-9, including an 8-5 advantage in the second half, but the Cardinals' back line held strong. Olayinka Ogunleye, Noah De Blasis, and Ryan Quintos anchored a defensive effort that limited quality chances, while Louisville's midfield and attack pressed forward with nine total attempts and three shots on frame.
The win marks Louisville's 400th program victory and the first time in program history that the Cards have started a season with five straight shutouts.
Louisville returns home to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Saturday (Sept. 13) night to resume ACC play against No. 20/RV Virginia. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
