Louisville and Miami will play a winner-take-all game on Sunday at noon ET.
Louisville and Miami will now play a winner-take-all game three on Sunday at noon ET with the winner punching its ticket to Omaha for the College World Series. Sunday's game will be televised on ESPN.
Playing as the visiting team on Saturday, the Cardinals were held off the scoreboard after a pair of double plays in the first two innings.
Miami (35-26) plated the first run in its half of the second, cashing in a two-out walk with a RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.
The lead wouldn't last long though. Lucas Moore walked with one out before stealing second and moving to third on a groundout. Zion Rose then tied the game at one with a single back through the middle.
Eddie King Jr. then launched the very next pitch over the berm in left-centerfield to give the Cardinals their first lead of the day.
After a quick bottom half of the third, the Cardinals added onto their lead as Jake Munroe lifted a ball over the left field wall leading off the fourth. The homer was the third of the super regional for the junior.
However, Miami would respond in the bottom half. A two-out single brought home a run and a three-run homer two batters later put the Hurricanes back in front.
Both teams were kept off the board in fifth and sixth innings, but King tied things up at five with his second long ball of the day with two outs in the seventh.
Miami had the answer again though, leading off with a double before bunting the runner to third and getting a single to left to edge out in front at 6-5. The Hurricanes then stretched their lead out to four on a three-run homer one inning later.
Louisville wouldn't go quietly in the ninth. Alex Alicea doubled to start the frame before immediately scoring on a single from Moore. Matt Klein worked a walk, giving the Cardinals three straight at-bats with the tying run at the plate.
The Cardinals were unable to deliver the big hit though, leaving the two runners on base.
Tucker Biven took a no-decision in the start, giving up five runs (one earned) over 3.2 innings.
King finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate with the two homers and three RBIs. The senior continued to add to his career-best home run and RBI totals, now with 17 and 59, respectively.
