Cardinals Power Past Wake Forest in Regular Season Finale

Louisville won 14-9 in the finale on Saturday.
Louisville closed out the regular season at 35-20 overall and 15-15 in the ACC. The Cardinals will now head to the ACC Championship which begins on Tuesday in Durham, N.C. The seedings and matchups will be announced later Saturday evening.
The long ball got things started for the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. Eddie King Jr. hit a two-run homer in the first inning before Tague Davis launched a two-run shot in the second. King then hit a solo shot for his second of the day in the third inning.
It was the 12th and 13th homers of the year for King and the 18th of the season for Davis to add to his freshman record.
Wake Forest (36-19, 16-14) plated a run in the fourth, but the Cardinals got it back in the bottom half on a Collin Mowry sacrifice fly.
The Demon Deacons battled back in the middle innings though, scoring twice in the fifth and four more times in the sixth to even the game up at seven apiece.
However, Louisville quickly regained the lead with a RBI groundout by Jake Munroe in the bottom of the sixth and held it the rest of the way.
In the seventh, Kamau Neighbors singled to right to plate an insurance run and Davis scored from third on an errant pickoff attempt. The Cardinals then tacked on four more in the eighth, including a RBI single from Zion Rose to stretch the margin to seven and put the game out of reach.
Patrick Forbes received a no-decision on the day after allowing three runs over five innings with seven strikeouts. Colton Hartman (2-0) earned the win with a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
King was 3-for-4 with the two home runs, three RBIs and four runs scored. Rose and Neighbors each had two hits and drove in two.
