April 03, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The University of Louisville volleyball team will continue its spring season on Saturday, April 5, as the Cardinals visit the Indiana Hoosiers in an exhibition matchup. The first serve will be at 6 p.m. (ET) and be played in Wilkinson Hall.Â
Louisville has a new look coming into this fall after losing valuable players like libero Elena Scott, outside hitters Anna DeBeer, Charitie Luper and Sofia Maldonado-Diaz and middle blocker Phekran Kong.
However, the Cards have revamped their roster with transfer portal additions such as setter Molly Wilson from Washington and Purdue transfer Chloe Chicoine, who plays outside hitter. Along with freshman additions like setter Hannah Kenny from Villa Park, Ill., and middle blocker Kalyssa Blackshear from Lomita, Calif. Another new role is head coach Dan Meske, who was formerly the associate head coach of the Cardinals for the past eight seasons.Â
Indiana volleyball comes into this season with the program's highest rated recruiting class to date and according to Prep Dig, IU has the 15th highest recruiting class in the country. Head coach Steve Aird moves into his eighth year at the helm of the Hoosiers, holding a 97-114 record in Bloomington. Last season, the Hoosiers went 15-15 and 8-12 in Big Ten play. They finished strong on the year, winning three out of their last four, sweeping UCLA, Illinois and beating Michigan in four sets. Indiana returns their two best hitters in seniors Candela Alonso-Corcelles and Avry Tatum. The duo racked up 757 kills last season and combined for 55 aces in 29 matches played. Also returning is senior middle blocker Madi Sell, who led the team in blocks with 94 this past season.
Â
This is the second of four spring game matches for the Cardinals. The first being an exhibition game against Vanderbilt last Friday, where Louisville won in five sets, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-9.
The final two games after Indiana will be against the Tennessee Volunteers at Freedom Hall on April 12, and against the Kentucky Wildcats at L&N Arena on April 18.Â
