Louisville took a 10-2 loss on Friday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 19th-ranked University of Louisville baseball team dropped the opening game of the weekend series against No. 4 Florida State 10-2 on Friday night at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (28-13, 10-9 ACC) has now lost consecutive games for just the third time this season.
After inclement weather delayed the game by two hours, Florida State (31-7, 12-4) struck for four runs in the top of the first inning.
Ethan Eberle put up three straight zeros from there, but the Louisville offense managed just a single run on a solo homer from Jake Munroe leading off the second inning.
The Seminoles added on in the middle innings, plating one in the fifth before two scored in the sixth and seventh and one more in the eighth.
Louisville was limited to just six hits on the night, with Moore and Munroe tallying two each.
Eberle (3-2) finished with six runs allowed over 5.0-plus innings. The left-hander set a new career high with seven strikeouts on the night.
Louisville and Florida State continue the weekend on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
