Cardinals Win 9-4, Even Series with No. 4 Florida State
April 26, 2025 | Baseball
Louisville won 9-4 on Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (29-13, 11-9 ACC) set a program record in the win, going a perfect 14-for-14 in stolen bases. The Cards surpassed the previous high of 10 set on Feb. 20, 2013, against Eastern Kentucky.
The 14 stolen bases were the fourth-highest total by a team in Division I this season. No other Power Four program has reached double digits in steals in a game in 2025.
Lucas Moore and Zion Rose each swiped four bags, while Alex Alicea and Eddie King Jr. tallied two, and Michael Lippe and Kamau Neighbors added one.
The early stages of Saturday's game belonged to Florida State (31-8, 12-5), as the Seminoles pushed a run across just two batters into the game.
The Seminoles kept the Cardinals quiet through the first four innings and then knocked Louisville starter Peter Michael from the game with a three-spot in the top of the fifth.
The latter half of the game belonged to Louisville though.
Neighbors singled home Lippe in the fifth to get the Cardinals on the board. One inning later, Jake Munroe and King pounded out consecutive run-scoring doubles to cut the deficit to one, and Nate Earley came off the bench and picked up a sacrifice fly to tie the game.
The Cardinals kept going in the seventh, with King giving Louisville its first lead of the day on a sacrifice fly. Lippe then delivered a two-out, two-run double to stretch it out to a three-run game.
Louisville then got insurance in the eighth with a RBI single from Moore and a safety squeeze bunt from Munroe.
Michael allowed four runs over 4.1 innings and received a no-decision. Justin West pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen and Jake Schweitzer (3-0) faced the minimum over 2.2 innings for the victory.
Moore was 3-for-5 at the plate, while King and Lippe each had two hits and drove in a pair.
Louisville and Florida State wrap up the weekend set on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET and will be televised on the ACC Network.
