CARDIAC CARDS WINNING IN DRAMATIC FASHION
The 2025 season has just passed the halfway point, but this Louisville team has already recorded five walk-off victories after the 4-3 win over Kentucky on Tuesday.
Louisville opened the season with a 4-3 walk-off victory over Texas and also notched an 8-6 walk-off win in the series opener against St. John's, a 9-8 walk-off win over Morehead State and an 11-10 walk-off victory over Cal. The five walk-off wins have already surpassed the Cardinals' total of three from the 2023 and 2024 seasons combined.
Two of Louisville's five last at-bat wins have come with the Cardinals trailing entering the ninth inning. Louisville has two wins this season when trailing after eight innings after going 3-76 in the same scenario from 2020-24.
HOME RUN TOTAL CONTINUING TO RISE FOR DAVIS
Tague Davis had a reputation for big power as a standout at Malvern Preperatory School, and that power has been on full display during his freshman season.
Through 31 games, Davis leads the Cardinals and ranks fourth in the ACC with 12 home runs after a two-homer day against Boston College on Sunday.
Davis is currently the only Division I freshman with double digit home runs and joins Alex Binelas (True FR in 2019) and Chris Dominguez (RS-FR in 2007) as the only freshmen with double digit home runs under Dan McDonnell.
CARDINALS AMBUSHING OPPOSING PITCHERS EARLY
The Louisville offense has been excellent this season and its done its best damage early in contests, especially over the last two weekends.
The Cardinals have scored 114 runs in the first three innings this season, including 24 in the Boston College series and 18 in three games against Cal.
Over the last six ACC games, opposing starting pitchers have recorded 38 outs (12.2 IP) while surrendering 40 runs.
LOUISVILLE FEATURES ONE OF NATION'S TOP OFFENSES
With the regular season now past the halfway point, the Louisville offense has been one of the best in the entire country in 2025.
The Cardinals rank top 30 nationally in batting average (7th), hits (21st), triples (22nd), total runs (23rd), on-base percentage (26th), stolen bases (26th), runs per game (27th), and slugging percentage (30th).
Louisville ranks top three in the ACC in all the aforementioned categories except slugging, in which it ranks fourth.
CARDS RUNNING WILD ON THE BASEPATHS
Under Dan McDonnell, the Cardinals have been one of the best base stealing programs in the country.
This season is no exception, as the Cardinals enter the weekend second in the ACC with 75 stolen bases. Louisville is 26th nationally and fourth among Power Four programs. The Cards lead the ACC with 33 stolen bases in conference play, more than any other team has attempted.
Lucas Moore leads the ACC with 25 on the season, while Alex Alicea and Zion Rose rank fourth and seventh in the league, respectively.

TEAM NOTES
- UofL is 60-34-2 in its 96 all-time ACC series (one series ended 1-1, one ended 1-1-1) since joining the league and is 65-28-1 in its series finales during that span, including a 23-15-1 record in rubber games.
- Louisville owns 179 conference wins since joining the ACC in 2015, the most conference wins during that time of any current Power Four school.
- The Louisville offense has tallied double digit hits in 20 games this season, going 18-2 in those contests. The Cards notched at least 10 hits 29 times in 2024, posting a 22-7 mark when doing so.
- Louisville has scored 10 runs or more in 16 of 32 games this season, including each of the last six ACC contests.
- The Cardinals are 24-2 this season when outhitting their opponent and 0-5 when losing the hit battle.
- Louisville is 20-2 when hitting a home run this season.
- The Cardinals have more free passes as an offense than strikeouts, tallying 151 walks and 55 HBPs to 191 strikeouts.
- Louisville is 17-1 when it limits the opposition to five runs or less and 23-2 when its opponent is kept in single digits.
- The Cardinals have 12 come-from-behind wins this season, including five walk-off victories.
PLAYER NOTES
- Lucas Moore has been the ultimate weapon at the top of the lineup for the Cards. Moore leads the Cardinals and the ACC with 52 runs scored, third-most in all of Division I. The speedy outfielder is a perfect 25-for-25 in stolen bases, pacing the conference in that category as well. He also ranks sixth in the ACC in on-base percentage, 11th in batting average and 13th in hits. Moore owns a 30-game reached base streak and 17-game hit streak heading the weekend, both career bests.
- Tagger Tyson redshirted last season and began this year splitting time as the back-up catcher. With Matt Klein down due to injury, Tyson has been thrust into a starting role and been excellent at the plate. Tyson is hitting .352 with 10 extra base hits in 54 at-bats. He is batting .458 (11-for-24) with four doubles, a homer and eight RBIs in seven ACC games, and he leads the Cardinals with a .643 average (9-for-14) with runners in scoring position.
- Eddie King Jr. went on the shelf with an injury just four games into the season and missed nearly three weeks. King returned to the starting lineup for the first time in the finale of the North Carolina series, but he has really heated up at the plate over the last two weeks. The senior is 15-for-31 in his last nine games, with four doubles, three home runs, 11 runs scored and 15 RBIs. King led the Cardinals in home runs and RBIs in 2024.
- Jake Munroe has made an immediate impact in the middle of Louisville's lineup. The junior college All-American is third in the ACC in triples, fifth in batting average, sixth in hits and runs, eighth in on-base percentage. Munroe has a hit in 26 of 32 games this season with 16 multi-hit games.
- Zion Rose has an exception freshman campaign that saw him hit .380 with 19 extra-base hits and 32 RBIs while finishing with more walks than strikeouts. The 2025 season has seen more of the same but with more damage. Rose is hitting .344 and already has 16 extra-base hits and 37 RBIs in 32 games. The increase in production hasn't affected his plate discipline though, as he has 11 walks and three HBPs to just 18 strikeouts.
- Wyatt Danilowicz missed all of the 2024 season due to injury, but has been outstanding in his return to the mound. In 13 relief appearances, the southpaw has allowed just two unearned runs over 13.0 innings with 22 strikeouts. Danilowicz earned his first career save in the weekend finale against UIC, recording the final four outs.
