Cards Lose Second Straight at Cincinnati
March 25, 2025 | Baseball
Louisville lost 12-2 at Cincinnati on Tuesday.
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The 18th-ranked University of Louisville baseball team lost 12-2 on Tuesday night at Cincinnati.
Louisville (18-6) has now lost consecutive games for the first time this season.
Despite the final score, it was the Cardinals that got the scoring started on Tuesday. Garret Pike delivered a two-out, two-run single in the top of the first inning to give Louisville a 2-0 lead.
It was all Cincinnati (13-11) the rest of the way.
The Bearcats tied the game with two in their half of the first before pushing six runs across in the second and four more in the fourth.
That would be more than enough to lift the Bearcats to victory, as the Cards didn't score over the final eight frames.
Justin West (0-1) took the loss with seven runs, six earned, allowed in 1.0-plus innings. Ethan Eberle, Jake Gregor, Alex Gay, Aaron England and Brandin Crawford each turned in scoreless relief appearances.
After four straight on the road, the Cardinals will return home for a weekend series against Cal. The series is scheduled to get underway on Friday at 6 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
