Cardinals Finish Seventh at NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. --Â The No. 8-ranked University of Louisville women's swimming & diving team finished in seventh place as a team in the final day of competition at the 2025 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Washington.
UofL scored 209.5 points, trailing national champion Virginia (544), as the Cavaliers won their fifth national title. Stanford (292) was second, followed by Texas (394), Indiana (312), Tennessee (298), and Florida (232.0).

In the 100 free championship final, Julia Dennis touched eighth with a time of 47.41. Virginia's superstar Gretchen Walsh threw down an NCAA record with a 44.71 to earn her ninth NCAA title. In the consolation final, Gabi Albiero was fifth with a time of 47.71 and Lucy Mehraban was eighth with a time of 48.04.

The Cardinals were third in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:08.71. Gabi Albiero led off with a split of 47.51 and Julia Dennis swam the second leg and posted a time of 46.52. Caroline Larsen swam the third leg in 47.43 and Lucy Mehraban anchored in 47.25. Virginia won the event with a 3:06.01.

In the 200 butterfly, Tristen Ulett put up a time of 1:55.12 to touch eighth in the consolation final. The event was won by Texas swimmer Emma Stricklen, who won her third straight title in as many years, this time with an NCAA record time of 1:49.11.

In the timed final of the 1650 freestyle, UofL's Leticia Romao finished 22nd with a time of 16.07.15.
