Louisville picked up a 12-8 victory on Saturday.
Louisville (18-4, 3-2 ACC) matched a season-high with 18 hits on the day, evening up the weekend series with the finale to come at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
The Louisville offense struck in each of the first three innings on Saturday.
Zion Rose singled home Lucas Moore in the first, before Moore tallied a run-scoring single in the second. After a Virginia Tech home run that tied the game at two, Eddie King Jr. put the Cards back in front with his first home run of the season leading off the third.
Tagger Tyson doubled home Jake Munroe later in the inning and Bayram Hot made it a 5-2 game with an opposite field knock.
Virginia Tech (15-8, 3-5) got a second two-run homer in the third before tying the game up with a solo shot in the fifth. The Hokies then grabbed their first and only lead of the day with a two-run double in the sixth.
Trailing by a pair, Munroe led off the seventh with a solo homer to cut the deficit in half. The Cardinals then loaded the bases with singles from Tyson and Garret Pike and a walk by Hot.
Alex Alicea drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game and Moore reached on an infield single that gave Louisville the lead back. Rose then took a four-pitch walk to force home the fourth run of the inning.
Virginia Tech had the tying runs on base in the bottom half of the seventh, but Wyatt Danilowicz entered and got a strikeout to end the threat. The Hokies then got consecutive walks to start the eighth before Tucker Biven entered and got a double play and strikeout to keep the Cards in front.
Louisville finally stretched out the margin with three insurance runs in the ninth. Moore picked up his third RBI single of the day and would steal two bases and score on a wild pitch. Tyson tacked on the final run with a single back through the middle later in the inning.
Biven then notched the final three outs in the bottom half to close out the victory.
Moore and Tyson each went 4-for-6 to lead the Cardinals. Ten different Louisville hitters tallied a hit in the win.
The Cardinals swiped eight bases in the winning effort, the most since March 19, 2023.
Ethan Eberle (2-0) earned the victory, recording three outs without allowing a run. Biven's two innings to finish resulted in his second save.
