Cardinals Return Home to Host Evansville

This begins another three-game homestand for the Cards
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team is back on campus after a two-game road swing and is set to begin a three-game homestand this weekend. The Cardinals will welcome the Evansville Aces to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Sunday. The Cards and Aces will square off at 7 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals remain unbeaten through the first five games of the season following the 1-1 draw against Cincinnati this past Thursday. It is the first time since the 2019 season that the Cardinals are unbeaten through the first five games of the season.
In the draw against the Bearcats, Karsyn Cherry tallied her third goal of the season from Brooke Dardano's corner kick. Cherry's three goals is tied with Amber Jackson for the most on the team. Dardano tallied her team-best fifth assist, which is tied for the nationally lead this season. Heading into the season, Dardano just had four assists in 31 career games.
The offense has been the focal point for the Cardinals as they have scored 14 goals through the five games. In 18 games last season, Louisville just scored 15 total goals. It took the Cardinals until game 15 last year to score their 14th goal of the season. The Cardinals have had nine different players score this season. They had only nine different goal scorers all of last season.
Evansville comes into the matchup with a 1-1-1 record and just picked up their first win of the season this past Thursday with a 2-1 victory over Lindenwood. This will be the sixth meeting between the two schools and the Cardinals hold a 4-1 all-time advantage. The Cardinals are 3-0 all-time at home against the Aces and this will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 2004 season. In the previous meeting, Louisville came away with a 7-0 win at Cardinal Park.
