
Sibirtsev Finishes 22nd in the 800M Freestyle at the Paris Olympic Games

PARIS – University of Louisville swimmer Ilia Sibirtsev swam in the preliminaries of the 800M freestyle Monday morning at the 2024 Paris Olympic games.

The Cardinal distance star, who swims for Uzbekistan, Â put up a time of 7:56.67 and finished fourth in his heat. The time places him in 22nd place with the top 8 swimmers advances to the finals.

Sibirtsev won gold in the 500-yard freestyle and silver in the 1650 freestyle at the 2024 ACC Championships in Greensboro. He earned All-American honors in the 1650 at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis.
Tomorrow will be a busy day for the Cardinals in Paris. Nicolas Albiero will swim the 200 fly, Denis Loktev (Israel) and Murilo Sartori (Brazil) will be part of the 4x200 Free Relay, and Denis Petrashov will swim the 200 breaststroke.
