
Olympic Cardinal Swimmers Off the Blocks Starting Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville swimming and diving team is sending nine Cardinals to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France and competition starts July 27.

Opening ceremonies for the Olympics will take place on July 26, while closing ceremonies will be held on August 11. There is a time difference of six hours between the Eastern time zone and Paris. Â

Over the course of the Games, there will be both live and tape-delayed television coverage on NBC and Peacock while some events will air on the USA Network, Golf Channel, CNBC, and E!.

Competition for Louisville athletes will officially begin on July 27 with the start of swimming, which will be contested through August 4. All eight Cardinal swimmers earned spots at the Olympic Games with Olympic A-cut times, continuing an impressive string of Olympic qualifiers for the swim program.

Else Praasterink will round out the Louisville delegates in Paris in the women's 10m platform diving competition as the first-ever Cardinal diver to compete in the Games. The preliminary and semifinal rounds are scheduled for August 5 with the final slated to be contested the next day on August 6.

In addition, associate head coach Reed Fujan will coach with Uzbekistan.
