
Cards Set for Final Night of Racing at NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Cardinals will have Ilia Sibirtsev in a timed final of the 1650 freestyle and the 400 Free Relay swimming Saturday night in the final day of competition at the 2024 NCAA Men's Swimming Championships at the Indiana Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.

In the 200 backstroke, Jackson Millard turned in a lifetime best with a 1:41.65 to place 32nd. Destin Lasco of California will be the top seed tonight, posting a 1:36.05.

In the 100 freestyle, Murilo Sartori won his heat with a lifetime best of 42.38. Guy Brooks posted a time of 42.69 in his preliminary heat. Tennessee's Jordan Crooks had the fastest time in the field with a 40.54 to head to tonight's finals as the man to beat.

In the 200 breaststroke, Denis Petrashov just missed qualifying for the finals when he boarded a 1:52.75. Penn's Matthew Fallon will be atop the leaderboard in tonight's finals after posting a 1:49.39 as the only swimmer sub-1:50.

In the 200 fly, Tommy Bried put up a personal best with a time of 1:42.66 to finish third in his heat at 28th overall. Gustavo Saldo checked in a 1:42.74 to finish 31st overall. Dare Rose will lead the charge as the top qualifier going into the finals after posting a 1:39.52.

The University of Louisville has nine swimmers and three relay alternates in the field. Tommy Bried, Guy Brooks, Denis Loktev, Dalton Lowe, Jackson Millard, Denis Petrashov, Gustavo Saldo, Murilo Sartori and Ilia Sibirtsev have qualified in individual events.  Matias Santiso, Charlie Crush and Vladimir Dubinin will serve as relay alternates. The Cardinals also qualified all five relay events.
