October 05, 2024 | Women's Soccer
It is the second-straight Top-3 opponent the Cards will face
DURHAM, N.C. — The Louisville women's soccer team is set to close out their week-long road trip and another top team in the country is up next. The Cardinals stay in the triangle and are set to face off with No. 2 Duke on Sunday afternoon in Durham. The Cards are set to face off at 1 p.m. ET from Durham and the match will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The second-ranked Blue Devils are the second Top-3 team the Cards face this week. They went up against No. 3 North Carolina this past Thursday in Chapel Hill. Sunday's matchup against the Blue Devils is the second of a potential five-straight ranked opponents for the Cardinals this month. As it stands right now after Sunday's match, the Cardinals are set to face No. 17 Notre Dame on Oct. 12, No. 9 Stanford on Oct. 17 and No. 18 Cal on Oct. 20.
North Carolina was the first ranked opponent the Cardinals have faced this season. Last year, the Cards drew with No. 20 Virginia and defeated No. 25 Duke.
This will be the 11th-matchup all-time between the Cardinals and Blue Devils with the Cards trailing the series 1-4-5. Last season at Lynn Stadium, Louisville defeated the Blue Devils for the first time in program history. Emma Hiscock scored the game's only goal in the first half and Erynn Floyd notched her fourth clean sheet in the season finale.
Following the matchup with the Blue Devils, the Cards will return home for their final homestand of the regular season. The Cards have four-straight home games starting with a Saturday matchup against Notre Dame. The Cardinals and Fighting Irish will square off at 5 p.m. ET from Lynn Stadium and it will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
