Cardinals Secure First Win of Season Over EKU

Louisville defeats Colonels 6-1
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team earned their first win of the season Saturday afternoon, winning 6-1 over Eastern Kentucky inside the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Elena Noguero, Germany Davis, and Lika Peresypkina grabbed the first singles wins of their collegiate careers, with transfers Allie Gretkowski and Lillian Mould earning singles wins as well.
The afternoon began with the Cardinals earning the doubles point, winning on all three courts. Allie Gretkowski and Lika Peresypkina prevailed 6-2, Lillian Mould and Berta Miret won 6-1, and Jamilah Snells and Ibifuro Clement triumphed 6-1.
Elena Noguero quickly gave the Cards a 2-0 lead with her 6-1, 6-3 win over Mariia Triska on Court 6, followed by Peresypkina winning 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 over Sasha Parkhomenko, putting Louisville on top 3-0.
Germany Davis earned a hard-fought win on Court 3, defeating Marilou Cote 6-0, 5-7, 6-2 and clinching the match for the Cards. Mould was right behind her on the first court, prevailing 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 over Masha Fedenko, and Gretkowski won soon after with her 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 win against Elif Olcer on Court 5. In the final match of the afternoon, EKU's Emmeline Polevoi defeated Miret 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 on Court 2.
Louisville is back inside the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday, January 28, for a doubleheader vs. Kennesaw State (11 a.m.) and Middle Tennessee (4 p.m.).
