Cardinals Travel North to Play Indiana
September 05, 2023 | Women's Soccer
This will be the second to last game of the non-conference slate
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Coming off a 3-0 home win over Central Michigan on Sunday, the Louisville women's soccer team is heading out on the road for a midweek matchup. The Cardinals are making a short trip north to take on Indiana this Thursday night at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Thursday's match will begin at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on Big 10 Network + and a subscription is required to watch.
In the 3-0 win over the Chippewas, a number of young players stepped up for the Cards. Freshman Molly Cochran scored the first two goals for the Cardinals and her goal in the 14th minute was the first of her career. She is the first Louisville freshman to score two goals in a match since the 2021 season. In the second half, sophomore Addie Chester tallied her first career goal to give the Cards a 3-0 advantage.
The Cardinals defense had another strong game at home against the Chippewas in the win. They recorded their third clean sheet through four home games this season. They only allowed five shots on the night and only one reached goal. Through the four home games, the Cardinals have allowed just 13 shots on goal and 22 shots total.
This will be the second-straight season the Cardinals and Hoosiers will square off. Indiana leads the all-time series 4-2-2 but the Cardinals are unbeaten in each of the last four meetings. Last year at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium, the Cardinals and Hoosiers played to a 0-0 draw. It will be the first trip for the Cardinals to Bloomington since the 2017 season, where the Cards came away with a 2-0 win.
After the midweek matchup against the Hoosiers, the Cardinals will return home to open another three-game homestand. The stretch begins this Sunday, September 10 against Wyoming. The Cardinals and Cowgirls will square off at 5:30 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium and the game will be broadcast nationally on the ACC Network.
