Cardinals Return Home to Face Northern Kentucky
August 26, 2023 | Women's Soccer
It will be the first of a three-game homestand
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's soccer team is back on campus and set to open a three-game homestand this weekend. The Cardinals welcome in-state foe Northern Kentucky to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium this Sunday night. The game is set for a 7:30 p.m. ET start and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
This will be the third-straight season the Cardinals and Norse will face off against each other and the Cardinals lead the all-time series 3-0-0. Last season, the Cardinals defeated the Norse, 1-0, in Highland Heights. Karsyn Cherry scored her second goal of the season in the win. Back in 2021, the two teams faced off in Louisville and the Cardinals came away with a 3-0 victory. Emma Hiscock and Hayley Howard both scored goals in the win.
In the Cardinals last game against Dayton, graduate student Ravin Alexander scored the equalizer in the 59th minute. She has spent most of her four years with the Cardinals on the back line but will be in more of an attacking role this season. It was the third goal of Alexander's career and back in her senior year of high school, she scored 41 goals and tallied 12 assists.
After Sunday's game against the Norse, the Cardinals will welcome Illinois to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium for a Thursday night matchup on August 31. The Cardinals and Illini will face off at 7:30 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
