Norton has been with the program since the 2015 season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is pleased to announce that Hunter Norton has been promoted to Associate Head Coach ahead of the 2023 season. Norton has been a member of the program for the past eight seasons and has been an assistant coach for the previous six seasons.
Norton has been with the program for a number of milestone moments during his time in Louisville. He worked with Emina Ekic, who was the first Louisville player to win ACC Offensive Player of the Year during the 2020-21 season. Ekic was drafted No. 5 in the NWSL draft and she was the first Louisville player ever selected in the draft.
He has also worked with two players that finished their careers with the most and second most games played in program history. Gabby Kouzelos set the program record with 85 career games played after her career finished in the 2021 season. The following year, Sarah Hernandez ended with 82 games played, the second-most in program history.
The Cardinals have finished with a .500 record or better in six seasons since Norton has been with the program. They have advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice and defeated the No. 1 in the country for the first time in program history during the 2016 season.
The women's soccer team season is right around the corner as they will compete in an exhibition this coming Sunday, August 6, on the road against Miami (OH). The season will open up at home on Thursday, August 17, when the Cardinals face Indiana State at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals have nine home games this upcoming season and tickets to all regular season home games will be free to the public.
