Louisville sends five to the finals on the final day
INDIANAPOLIS -- The University of Louisville sent five swimmers to the finals in the final day of racing at the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships meet.
The long-course meters event got off the blocks today and ran from June 27-July 1 at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis and serves as a selection opportunity for the 2023 World Championships, LEN U23 Championships and 2023 Pan American Games rosters.
Gabi Albiero advanced to the A-final of the 50M free, with a 24.98. In the final, she touched seventh with a time of 24.76.
Fellow Cardinal sprinter Christiana Regenauer advanced to the C-final with a 25.37 in prelims and went 25.19 in the finals to touch second.
Julia Dennis made the B-final after a prelim time of 25.36 in the 50M free and then touched fifth in her final with a 25.06.
Caleb Duncan moved to the C-final of the 50M free after a 22.80 prelim time and then went 22.97 in his final.
Abby Hay qualified in the C-final of the 200M IM by placing 24th in the prelims with a time of 2:16.44. She was eighth in the final with a time of 2:19.12.
Tristen Ulett posted a 2:16.44 to finish 28th in the 200M IM. Rye Ulett posted a 2:18.06 for 41st.
Also in the 50M free, Ella Welch turned in a 26.27 for 53rd, Dalton Lowe was 39th (23.21) and Michael Eastman was 43rd in 23.25.
In the 800M free, Eli Shoyat clocked in at 8:00.79 and in the 1500M free, Paige Kuwata was 38th with a 17:06.08.
