
Tennis Lands Three On CSC Academic All-District List

Gorchanyuk, Xin and Richardson named All-District
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville's Tyra Richardson, Sasha Gorchanyuk and Cici Xin have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Tennis Academic All-District team.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.Â

Richardson posted a team-best 12 wins (12-12) in singles competition, playing at No. 3, 4, 5, and 6. She went on an eight-game win streak from January 20-February 24. She played in seven third sets throughout the season. Richardson also had wins against five ranked opponents. She won against No. 9-ranked Vanderbilt, No. 22-ranked Notre Dame, No. 29-ranked Clemson, No. 46-ranked Boston College, and No. 55-ranked Virginia Tech. She also had four ACC wins in singles. She was a key part of the Cardinals win in the first round of the ACC Tournament over Boston College, winning 6-4, 6-2. Richardson played with two doubles partners, Sasha Gorchanyuk and Jamilah Snells playing at No. 3 doubles.Â

Gorchanyuk picked up four wins (4-7) in singles competition at No. 6. Gorchanyuk won two in a row against Eastern Kentucky 6-3, 6-1 and Austin Peay 6-4, 6-2. On March 3, she defeated the No. 6 singles player from No. 1-ranked North Carolina 6-3, 6-4. Against Xavier, she won a hard fought battle 7-6 (7-5), 6-0. Gorchanyuk competed in doubles with Maria Campos winning three matches. The duo helped the Cardinals win the first round of the ACC Tournament with a 6-1 win over Boston College at No. 3 doubles.

Xin picked up six wins (6-10) in singles competition playing at No. 4 and 5. She won the first three matches of the season against Bellarmine, Ball State, and Eastern Kentucky. She earned a tough victory at No. 4 singles against James Madison, winning 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5). She won another tough battle against the No. 4 singles player from Memphis, earning a 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 10-8 victory. She was a key part of the Cardinals win in the first round of the ACC Tournament over Boston College, winning 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Xin partnered with Jamilah Snells playing in all three doubles positions. The duo finished with a team-high 12 wins (12-10) including six-straight from January 28-February 19. The duo helped the Cardinals win the first round of the ACC Tournament with a 6-3 win over Boston College at No. 2 doubles.
