Louisville lost 10-4 to Georgia Tech on Saturday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The second-ranked University of Louisville baseball team suffered a 10-4 defeat against Georgia Tech on Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The loss snapped Louisville's (16-2, 1-1 ACC) 11-game winning streak.

Georgia Tech (14-5, 3-2) jumped on the Cards early, scoring twice in the second with a three-run homer in the third extended the lead to 5-0.

Logan Beard pushed a run across in the bottom half of the third, but the Yellow Jackets moved back in front by five with a solo homer in the fifth.

Louisville clawed back into the game in its half of the fifth. Jack Payton tripled home Christian Knapczyk and then scored on a groundout by Ryan McCoy. Later in the inning, JT Benson singled in a run and the Cards were back within two.

The Cardinals had offensive chances in the seventh and eighth innings, but failed to score in either frame and remained down a pair.

GT then put the game away with four runs in the ninth.

Benson went 3-for-5 on the day as the Cardinals tallied 10 hits in the loss. Patrick Forbes had two hits of his own.

Greg Farone (1-1) took his first loss of the season, allowing five runs over 3.1 innings. Kaleb Corbett allowed one run in a season-long 3.2 innings. Evan Webster recorded four outs in a scoreless appearance.

Louisville and Georgia Tech finish off the weekend series on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
