Tennis Heads to Vanderbilt Then Home Versus James Madison

Cards will split their weekend on the road and at home in the Bass-Rudd
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team will compete in two matches this weekend against No. 21 Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn. at 3 p.m. on Friday and James Madison in the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET.

The Cardinals (3-1) are coming off of a split weekend with a 3-4 loss to Ball State and a 6-1 win against Eastern Kentucky. Andrea Di Palma, Cici Xin, and Tatiana Simova picked up the wins against Ball State. Xin scored Louisville's first singles point winning 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) in the No. 5 position. Di Palma, playing at the No. 1 singles position, won 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to score the second point. Simova scored Louisville's final point at the No. 6 spot with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 comeback win. UofL won the doubles point against Eastern Kentucky with the duo of Jamilah Snells and Xin winning 6-1 and the pair of Rhea Verma and Sasha Gorchanyuk winning 6-1. The Cards picked up wins in singles at spots No. 2-6. Tyra Richardson swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0.

No. 21 Vanderbilt (3-0) is coming off of a strong weekend at the ITA Kick-off weekend where they beat No. 3 NC State 5-3 in the championship match to punch their ticket to the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championships. After dropping the doubles point, the Commodores battled back to pick up four wins in singles at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 spot. Prior to competing against NC State, the Vanderbilt defeated Furman 5-0. Vandy began the afternoon winning the doubles point before winning at the No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 position.

James Madison (2-1) won 6-1 in their lone match over the weekend against Richmond. JMU won all three doubles matches and five singles matches, though three were won in the third set after dropping the first. Kylie Moulin won 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles spot. Ines Oliveria, playing at the No. 3 singles position, won 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 4 singles position, Daniela Voloh won 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.
