LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville student-athletes Parker Forbes and Bradley Sample were each recognized for the accomplishments in the classroom as the Atlantic Coast Conference released its men's soccer All-Academic Team on Wednesday.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
This is the third All-Academic Team selection for Sample, who wrapped up a four-year career with the Cardinals during the fall. Sample was one of only two Cards to start all 18 matches this season, scoring a goal against Virginia Tech and tallying three assists. Over four seasons, the Channahon, Ill., native played in 69 matches and started 64 of them. During that period, the Cardinals made three NCAA Tournament appearances and won the 2021 ACC Atlantic Division title.
After redshirting during the 2021 season, Forbes stepped onto the pitch for the first time with the Cardinals in the fall. The defender appeared in 12 matches, starting four of them. Forbes logged more the 500 minutes on the field and contributed to four shutouts defensively.
Louisville posted a 9-6-3 record this fall and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history.
