October 21, 2023 | Women's Soccer
This is the final road game of the regular season
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The University of Louisville women's soccer team is set to close out its longest road trip of the season on Sunday in Winston-Salem. The Cardinals are set to take on the Demon Deacons on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. ET from Spry Stadium and the match will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Demon Deacons are receiving votes in the most recent United Soccer Coaches poll and the Cardinals have faced a number of teams this season that are ranked or receiving votes. In total, this is the seventh ranked or receiving votes team from the most recent poll the Cardinals have faced and their second-straight after going against No. 8 Clemson on Thursday. The Cardinals have a 3-2 home win over currently ranked 18th Pittsburgh and have a 1-1 home draw over then ranked No. 20 Virginia last month.
This will be the eighth all-time meeting between the Demon Deacons and Cardinals and the all-time series is tied 3-3-1. The Cardinals are 1-3 all-time in Winston-Salem but won the most recent meeting down there, a 2-0 victory back in the 2018 season. In the most recent meeting between the two schools in 2021, the Cardinals came away with a 2-1 home win in overtime against Wake Forest. Savina Zamborini scored the opening goal of the match and Emma Hiscock tallied the game-winner in overtime in the 99th minute.
Following Sunday's match against the Demon Deacons, the Cardinals will return home for the final home game of the regular season. The Cardinals are set to square off with the RV Duke Blue Devils on Thursday, October 26 at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium with kick off set for 6 p.m. ET.
