LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's soccer team is back on campus and set for its first home game in two weeks when it hosts Indiana on September 8 from Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals and Hoosiers will square off from Lynn Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday and the match will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
It will be Throwback Thursday: Alumni Night at Lynn Stadium on Thursday and the first 250 fans in attendance will receive a voucher for a free throwback fanny pack. Vouchers can be redeemed at halftime of Thursday's match. Also in coordination with Alumni Weekend, Throwback Thursday will feature videos of past Cardinals, Pro Cards, and team history with a number of former Cards set to be in attendance for the match against the Hoosiers.
Louisville returns home after going 2-0-1 on its extended trip away from home over the past few weeks. They defeated Northern Kentucky 1-0 on the road and took down #23 Memphis 3-2 on a neutral field before earning a 0-0 draw against James Madison this past Sunday. The newcomers and veterans both helped the Cardinals during their recent road trip.
Freshman Karsyn Cherry scored the game's only goal in the 1-0 result at Northern Kentucky. She scored off the assist from graduate student Maisie Whitsett and it was the second time the pair have connected for a goal this season.
In the 3-2 win over #23 Memphis, Whitsett had an assist on the game's opening goal from freshman Emersen Jennings, the first goal of her career. Whitsett and Cherry connected again in the second half as Cherry notched her third goal of the year to tie the game. Sophomore Anouk Denton tallied the game-winning goal later in the second half, her second game-winning goal of her career.
In the 0-0 draw against James Madison, freshman Erynn Floyd earned her fifth-straight start to begin the season and played all 90 minutes in net to earn the clean sheet. It was her third clean sheet of the season and extended the Cardinals unbeaten streak to three games.
