Cardinals Drop Game Two to No. 10 Virginia

Louisville wraps up the regular season on Saturday at noon ET.
Louisville (37-16-1, 17-11-1 ACC) saw its eight-game home winning streak come to a close on Friday. The Cardinals and Cavaliers wrap up the regular season on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for noon ET and will be televised on the ACC Network.
Virginia (38-14, 17-12) took advantage of free passes early in Friday's contest, cashing it two in the top of the first inning. The Cavaliers then struck for five more runs in the third and led 7-0 after three.
The Cardinals chipped away for the first time in the fourth. Logan Beard flared a single to right field to plate the first run before Isaac Humphrey rolled one through the right side for another tally. Ben Bianco then plated the third run of the frame with a fielder's choice.
Virginia answered back quickly though responding with six in the top of the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Dalton Rushing and JT Benson hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh for the Cards. It was the team-leading 18th of the season for Rushing and the first of Benson's career. Benson later added a run-scoring triple in the ninth to cap a perfect day for him off the bench.
Ten different Cardinals had a hit on the day, with Benson and Ben Metzinger tallying two apiece.
Eight different pitchers threw on the day for Louisville. Kaleb Corbett and Cameron Robinson each had scoreless innings out of the bullpen, while J.R. Langworthy retired the only batter he faced.
