Cardinals Host Weekend Series Against Dartmouth

The series begins Friday at 3 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team welcomes in Dartmouth for the first home weekend series of the season at Jim Patterson Stadium. The series begins Friday at 3 p.m. ET with game two set for Saturday at 1 p.m. ET and the finale on Sunday at noon ET. All three games will be televised on ACC Network Extra. Radio coverage on Friday will be on 970 WGTK before moving to 93.9 The Ville for the Saturday and Sunday contests.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville opened up the home portion of its schedule with a 7-6 victory on Monday over Xavier. The Cardinals trailed 4-1 before plating six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the come-from-behind victory.
Dalton Rushing's two-run double gave the Cardinals the lead and Cameron Masterman punctuated the six-run inning with a long two-run home run. Rushing was 2-for-2 on the night with the double, a solo home run and two walks. Isaac Humphrey, who started the seventh inning rally with a leadoff single, went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville and Dartmouth are meeting for the first time this weekend. The Cardinals are 6-2 all-time against programs from the Ivy League. Louisville is 3-2 against Brown, losing a doubleheader in 1972 and sweeping a series in 2019. The Cardinals also swept a three-game set with Princeton in 2016.

LOUISVILLE IN MIDST OF 18-GAME HOMESTAND
After opening the season on the road, the Cardinals are back inside the friendly confines of Jim Patterson Stadium for 18 consecutive games.
The 18 straight at home mark the longest stretch of home games since playing 20 in a row at home in 2013. The Cardinals put together a 17-3 record during that homestand.
Long early season homestands are nothing new for the Cardinals, who have had stretches of at least 14 straight games at home in seven of the last nine full seasons.

- UofL pitchers have had the strikeout pitch working to start the season, striking out at least 11 in all four games. After a season-high 14 punchouts Monday against Xavier, the Cardinals are currently third in the ACC with 12.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
- Louisville is 87-2 when leading after eight innings over the past three seasons, including a 27-1 mark in 2021. Since the start of 2012, the Cardinals are 391-9 when taking a lead into the ninth inning.
PLAYER NOTES
- Christian Knapczyk has hit in the leadoff spot in all four games this season after hitting ninth in 42 of his 43 starts in 2021. Knapczyk has been excellent to start the year hitting leadoff, reaching base in 10 of 19 plate appearances (.526 OBP). The sophomore has also reached base in the first inning in three of four games.
- Cameron Masterman is off to a hot start for the second consecutive season. Masterman is hitting a team-best .500 (7-for-14) with a home run and three RBIs while collecting at least one hit in all four games.
- Michael Prosecky has taken over as the Louisville closer for the 2022 season after pitching in a variety of roles during his first two years. The southpaw has recorded the final six outs in each of Louisville's two victories, earning his first two career saves.
- Isaac Humphrey had a big night in his first game as a Cardinal at Jim Patterson Stadium. Humphrey was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, with two doubles and a walk, reaching base in all four trips to the plate against Xavier.
- Dalton Rushing was a key part of Louisville's win over Xavier on Monday, hitting a solo home run in the second inning and then a go-ahead two-run double in the seventh in addition to a pair of walks. Rushing has reached base in five straight plate appearances dating back to the Sunday contest against UConn.
