Louisville moved to 8-3-3 on the season with Tuesday’s draw.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 11th-ranked University of Louisville men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against East Tennessee State on Tuesday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
Tuesday's match was the last non-conference contest of the regular season for Louisville (8-3-3), with two ACC matches remaining on the schedule.
The opening half of the match favored ETSU (6-4-3), as the Buccaneers outshot the Cards 7-5 and tallied the only goal through 45 minutes.
ETSU took the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, tapping in a cross right in front of net to jump in front.
The Bucs would remain in front until the 62nd minute, when an ETSU takedown in the box resulted in a Louisville penalty. Aboubacar Camara promptly stepped up to the spot and slotted the shot home to level the match at one.
The goal was the team-leading fifth of the season for Camara and the 24th of his career.
Louisville kept its attack ongoing for the remaining 28 minutes, dominating possession and continuing to fire at the net.
Josh Jones forced a tough save with a header off a set piece and later clanged a header off the crossbar on a corner kick. Damien Barker John had a dangerous opportunity deflected out by the keeper as well and Jones forced another save in the closing minutes.
In the end, the Cardinals had to settle for the 1-1 draw despite outshooting ETSU 10-1 in the second half. The Cards finished with a 15-8 edge in shots for the night.
Louisville will now wrap up the home portion of its regular season schedule on Friday night against reigning national champion Clemson. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
