No. 15 Louisville Comes Up Short Against No. 3 Syracuse

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - No. 15 University of Louisville women's lacrosse dropped a 19-7 decision against No. 3 Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at UofL Lacrosse Stadium.Â

The Cardinals fall to 5-9 on the year and 1-8 in the ACC after the loss, while the Orange improve to 11-1 on the season and 7-1 in the conference.

Prior to the start of the game, student manager Trent Porter and former student-athlete Allie Arcidiacono were recognized along with current seniors Maddie Birch, Alex McNicholas, Shayla Scanlan, Jen Schaaf, Ally Hall, Rachel Florek, Sarah Blalock, and Caroline Blalock for Senior Day.

Hannah Morris put the Cardinals on the board first after the Orange jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead. Syracuse tallied seven unanswered goals from there until Kokoro Nakazawa found the back of the net after an assist from Kirsten Parker.Â

Louisville went on a 3-0 run in the final 4:18 of the first half behind a goal from Ally Hall and two from Kylea Dobson. Dobson's second goal came with four seconds left on the clock, and the Cardinals trailed the Orange 11-5 at the break.Â

Caroline Blalock, who became the 10th player in program history to reach 100 career goals on Friday, and Grace Jenny both scored goals for Louisville in the second half. Syracuse out-shot the Cardinals 36-25 throughout the game and registered 16 draw controls to Louisville's 11.
Jen Schaaf finished with a career-high six saves after entering midway through the first half.

Louisville concludes the regular season on the road as they travel to Notre Dame on Saturday, April 24 at 1 p.m. ET on ACC Network Extra.
