
Louisville to Host Syracuse on Senior Day

Eight lacrosse seniors will be recognized before Sunday's game against Syracuse.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville lacrosse hosts Senior Day against No. 3 Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. ET. The game will broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
Prior to the game, student manager Trent Porter and former student-athlete Allie Arcidiacono will be recognized along with current seniors Maddie Birch, Alex McNicholas, Shayla Scanlan, Jen Schaaf, Ally Hall, Rachel Florek, Sarah Blalock and Caroline Blalock.
Trent Porter, Student Manager
As a student manager for the lacrosse program the past five seasons, Trent has always gone above and beyond to ensure the needs of both student-athletes and the staff. In January, he became the first Louisville lacrosse student manager to be named the Johnny Unitas Award Recipient, which recognizes a student manager who makes an outstanding contribution to their team. Trent will graduate with his masters in Geotechnical Engineering and has accepted a job with the US Army Corps of Louisville, where he will work in the Risk Cadre helping perform risk assessments in dams and levees across the country.
#8 Allie Arcidiacono – Senior, Defender, Somers, N.Y.
Allie spent four seasons with the Louisville lacrosse program, both as a manager and a student athlete, but because of last season's abrupt ending was unable to participate in her senior day. She graduated from Louisville in 2020 with an undergraduate degree in sport administration and is currently at Wagner College, where she is pursuing her master's degree in business administration and working as a graduate assistant as coordinator of business and finance.
#15 Maddie Birch – Senior, Defender, Wall, N.J.
Maddie has played in 54 games with 43 starts over the past four seasons. She has recorded 79 ground balls and 63 caused turnovers. As a sophomore, she ranked seventh in the ACC with 37 ground balls and was named to the ACC All-Academic Team. Last year, she led the ACC with 1.9 caused turnovers per game. She has 11 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers and two assists this season. She majored in communications with a minor in sports administration and plans to travel this summer and then get her certification in nutrition.
#17 Alex McNicholas, Senior, Midfielder, Rockville Centre, N.Y.
Alex has played in 57 games with 36 starts over the past four seasons. She has recorded 43 goals, 21 assists, 64 points, 77 ground balls, 56 caused turnovers and 172 draw controls. Her 172 draws rank third all-time in Louisville program history. She led the team with 57 draw controls as a freshman and then ranked second on the team with 49 draws as a sophomore. After her sophomore season, she was named to the ACC All-Academic team. Last year, she once again led the team with 32 draw controls and ranked 10th in the ACC with 3.6 draws per game. This season, she leads the team with 34 draw controls and ranks second with 16 caused turnovers. She majored in economics and plans on attending Boston University Henry M Goldman School of Dental Medicine and pursue a degree in Dentistry.
#66 Shayla Scanlan, Senior, Attacker, Angola, N.Y.
Shayla has played in 38 games with 22 starts during her career. She has 42 goals, 15 assists and 57 shots. As a sophomore, she started every game except the season opener and finished third on the team with 26 goals, collecting a career-high five goals against Mercer. Last season, she ranked second on the team with seven assists and third with 18 points. She majored in political science with a minor in communications. She plans to return to Louisville for her fifth year next season and pursue a masters in Criminal Justice.
#44 Jen Schaaf, Senior, Goalkeeper, Ellicott City, Md.
Jen has played in nine games in goal and has nine saves. She has recorded a career-high two saves on three occasions. She majored in sport administration with a minor in communications. She now plans to move back to Baltimore and pursue a career in business.
#21 Ally Hall, Senior, Attacker, Harwood, Md.
Ally has played in 57 games with 44 starts over her four year career. She has accumulated 96 goals, 27 assists, 123 points, a .473 shot percentage and 48 ground balls. As a sophomore, she started all 18 games and ranked second on the team with 28 goals, 12 assists and 40 points and was named to the ACC All-Academic team. Last year, she ranked second with 18 goals and 24 points, and third with six assists. Her 31 goals this season lead the team and rank seventh in the ACC, while her 39 points lead the team. The team captain has recorded at least one goal in her last 12 games and twice set her career-high with five goals against Marquette and Virginia Tech. She majored in marketing with a minor in sport administration and plans to pursue a marketing position in Washington, D.C.
#19 Rachel Florek, Senior, Goalkeeper, Ocean City, Md.
Rachel has played in 40 games with 39 starts since transferring to Louisville from Towson prior to her sophomore season. She has accumulated over 2,000 minutes in the circle and her 327 saves are the most in Louisville history. Her .435 career save percentage ranks third all-time in program history. She had 113 saves in her first season as a Cardinal, which ranks sixth all-time in UofL single season history. In the shortened 2020 season, she led the ACC and ranked fourth in the NCAA with 95 saves, while ranking third all-time in UofL single-season history and fourth in the league with a .503 save percentage. In games against Michigan and Virginia Tech, she set the program record with 17 saves. This season, she leads the ACC with 119 saves. The 119 saves also mark the fifth most in a single season in program history. She graduated in 2020 with an undergraduate degree in sport administration and will graduate this year with a master's in human resources and organizational development. She plans to pursue her second master's degree and return to UofL next season.
#24 Sarah Blalock, Senior, Midfielder, Ellicott City, Md.
Sarah has played in 57 games with 36 starts during her four-year career. She has recorded 71 career draw controls, which ranks 10th all-time in UofL history. She also has 51 ground balls, 30 caused turnovers, 22 goals, seven assists and 29 points in her career. As a sophomore, she led the team with 50 draw controls, while adding 11 goals, three assists, 14 points, 20 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. In 2019, she had a career-high nine draws against Ohio State. This season, she has cemented herself as one of the best lockdown defenders in the country, limiting the offensive output of many of the top players in the country. She is currently concluding her undergraduate degree in sustainability and sociology, while also participating in the accelerated masters program. She plans to return next season to obtain her masters degree. Her dream profession is to work as a project manager on green building projects and homes.
#6 Caroline Blalock, Senior, Midfielder, Ellicott City, Md.
Caroline has played in 57 games with 36 starts and has been a team captain since stepping on campus as a freshman. On Friday, she became the 10th player in Louisville program history to accumulate 100 goals. She ranks third all-time in UofL program history with 74 caused turnovers, fourth with 122 ground balls, fifth with 37 assists and sixth with 95 draw controls. She was named All-ACC Second Team and IWLCA All Region Second Team as a freshman after leading the team with 43 goals, 55 points and 24 caused turnovers. She was then named ACC All-Academic team as a sophomore after ranking eighth in the ACC with 23 caused turnovers. This season, she leads the Cardinals with 10 assists, 27 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. She has been named an ILWomen Midseason All-American and to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She double majored in marketing and sport administration and plans to return to Louisville next season and pursue her MBA.
