Louisville Loses Finale, Drops Series at Georgia Tech

The Cardinals took a 13-9 loss on Sunday.
Louisville (7-4, 1-2 ACC) scored in six of the nine innings on Sunday, but couldn't keep the Yellow Jackets off the board enough to secure the win.
Things got off to a great start for the Cardinals as Cooper Bowman went the other way for a leadoff home run on the fourth pitch of the game. It was the first leadoff home run for Louisville since Corey Ray led off the game with a homer against Miami on March 18, 2016.
As was the story throughout the day, Georgia Tech (8-3, 5-1) had an answer for each time the Cardinals scored. The Yellow Jackets got a run of their own in the bottom of the first and then answered with another run in the second after Christian Knapczyk had put the Cardinals back in front with a RBI double in the top of the frame.
GT grabbed the lead for the first time with back-to-back homers in the third and then added three more in the fourth to spread the advantage out to five.
The Cardinals got consecutive run-scoring hits in the fifth from Cameron Masterman and Lucas Dunn, the latter of which drove in a pair to make it a 7-5 game. However, Georgia Tech responded with two more runs to stretch it back to four.
Louisville kept chipping away, plating two runs in the sixth and another in the eighth to pull within two at 10-8. An error kept the bottom of the eighth inning alive for Georgia Tech though, and the Yellow Jackets pushed three runs across to ultimately put the game out of reach.
Bowman and Dunn each had four-hit days to lead the Louisville offensive attack. Knapczyk, Masterman and Luke Brown had two hits apiece as well.
Louisville is back on the diamond on Tuesday for a home date against Murray State. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
