
No. 3 Cardinals Set to Host Boston College and Syracuse

Louisville will face the Eagles on Friday and the Orange on Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 3 University of Louisville volleyball is back for a two-game homestand this weekend as they continue ACC play, taking on Boston College on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. and Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.
Louisville vs. Boston College
Louisville and Boston College have met 11 times in series history with the Cardinals on a two-match win streak and a series lead of 9-2. The last meeting between the two teams was 3-1 Louisville win on Oct. 3, 2020. This season, the Eagles own a 12-6 record and are 2-2 in conference matches. Boston College enters Friday's match coming off a 3-2 loss at home against Wake Forrest. BC is led by second year head coach Jason Kennedy, who led the team to a 20-win season last year, the most in program history. The Eagles offense is led by Clare Naughton, Katrina Jensen and Amaka Chukwujekwu. Naughton leads the team with 247 kills with a .233 hitting percentage and has 10 aces, 23 blocks and is second on the team with 165 digs. Jenson is second on the team with 146 kills on a .236 hitting percentage and has 21 blocks and four aces while Chukwujeku has a team high .358 hitting percentage and 64 blocks with 142 kills and four aces. The Eagles also have two setters with 300+ assists in Grace Penn (305) and Sophia Lambros (302).

Louisville and Syracuse have met 29 times since Oct. 9, 1982. The Cardinals hold a 25-4 lead and won the last meeting 25-18, 25-21, 27-25 on Oct. 10, 2020. This season, the Orange are off to a 14-2 start and are 3-1 in the ACC. Syracuse is coming off a 25-17, 25-17, 25-13 sweep of Virginia Tech and will play at Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 8 before coming to Louisville on Sunday. Led by former Louisville head coach Leonid Yelin in his ninth year, Syracuse had one of its most successful seasons in 2018 with a record of 19-9, culminating in the first NCAA tournament appearance in program history. At Louisville, Yelin had a 366-112 record in 15 seasons. Yelin produced 11 20-win teams in his tenure and mentored seven All-Americans, six of which played nationally, and 12 student-athletes who played professionally.
