LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No.6-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team handled No. 18 TCU in three sets (25-23, 25-14, 27-25) at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena on Friday night to capture their third ranked win of the season and third straight win at home.

The Cardinals (4-1) went off on both sides of the ball, with setter Nayelis Cabello notching a double-double with 36 assists and a career-high 18 digs to lead the team in both categories. She was key in Louisville outhitting TCU (2-2) with a .412 hitting percentage and 51 kills compared to the Horned Frogs' 42 kills on a .299 clip. The Cardinals also won the serve and pass game with five service aces and 36 digs.

Outside hitter Chloe Chicoine and opposite Kalyssa Blackshear were the highlights of the offense, with both players putting down 17 kills each. Chicoine hit .433 with seven kills in the first set alone, and Blackshear only committed one error on 26 swings to hit a team-high .615. Chloe Meester also pitched in 10 kills of her own on a .304 hitting percentage.

Set One
The Horned Frogs started the match off on a 3-0 run and took their largest lead of the set to go up 8-4. The Cards responded with a 9-1 run of their own to take a 13-9 lead thanks to service runs by Chicoine and Blair Thiebaud, who also dropped in an ace during her service run. TCU crawled back to within one at 16-15 and again at 19-18, but a Chicoine kill and ace pushed the Cards ahead to 21-18. It was a battle of the pin hitters as the teams raced to 25, with Louisville ultimately taking the set 25-23 after two kills by Blackshear to end it.

Set Two
A 6-0 run with Payton Petersen at the service line lit a fire under Louisville to start the set, and it was all Cardinal red from there. Blackshear went off with five kills early to give UofL a commanding 15-5 lead going into the media timeout. A couple of kills from Meester gave Louisville its largest lead of the match at 21-11, then the teams traded points back and forth before Blackshear went up the middle for her ninth kill to finish the set 25-14.

Set Three
TCU led for most of the set, with Louisville tying it at 4-4 before the Horned Frogs took off to lead it 11-6. Back-to-back TCU blocks helped the Horned Frogs go up 17-14, but a couple of kills from Chicoine and Blackshear put Petersen back on the service line, who served an ace to tie it 19-19. After taking a timeout, a TCU hitting error gave Louisville its first lead of the set at 20-19. It was a tight contest from there, with the set going into extra points after TCU tied it at 24-24. After trading errors, a back-row kill from Blackshear brought up match point before a TCU attack error ended the match.
