
Louisville Hosts Wake Forest on Saturday

The Cardinals and Demon Deacons will kick off at 7 p.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After nearly a week off, University of Louisville women's soccer returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Wake Forest. The match will begin at 7 p.m. ET and broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
Louisville enters Saturday's match with a 6-2-1 overall record and they are 2-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
The Cardinals fell 3-0 to No. 1 Florida State last time out despite a strong defensive effort in the first half that kept the Seminoles off the board in the first 45 minutes. It marked just the fourth time this season that FSU has been held scoreless in the first half.
Despite not recording an assist in the last seven matches, Brooke Dardano ranks ninth in the ACC with four assists and 0.44 assists per game. She recorded two assists in each of the Cards' first two matches and after just nine collegiate games, she is tied for third on the team with Taylor Kerwin with four career assists.
Louisville has outscored its opponent 20-13 and outshot its opponent 131-100 on the season.

Wake Forest enters Saturday's match with a 10-1 record after going a perfect 8-0 in non-conference play. The Demon Deacons are 2-1 in ACC play with their lone loss a 1-0 defeat at home to No. 7 Virginia. Last week, they defeated Boston College 1-0 and Syracuse 2-0, both on the road. Wake Forest leads the ACC with 19.18 shots per game, while its .431 shot accuracy ranks 13th. Shayla Smart leads the Deacs with seven goals and 15 points, which ranks sixth and eighth in the ACC, respectively. Her four game-winning goals lead the league and rank second in the country. Trailing 1-0, UofL got the equalizer in the 53rd minute when Allison Whitfield's free kick from outside the box slipped between the Wake Forest goalkeeper's gloves and found Ravin Alexander, who tapped it into the lower corner of the left post for the first goal of her career. In the 68th minute, Emina Ekic took a free kick outside of the box on the right side. Ekic's shot sailed over a Wake Forest defender's head and slipped into the upper left corner of the far post for a 2-1 lead.
