Freshman swimmer made two A-finals and a B-final in her first year racing at ACCs
Throughout the remainder of the 2020, we will check in with the athletes on the University of Louisville swimming and diving team as they complete their semesters online. This week we check in with freshman Abby Singer from Pittsburgh, Pa.
Q: What is your favorite pump-up song?
A: "Dreamin" by The Score ft. blackbear

Q: What is your favorite pre-meet meal?
A: Peanut butter and honey sandwich, chocolate milk, a granola bar, and an apple

 A: University of Maryland or Greensboro Aquatic Center

Q: Excluding your sport, what is your favorite sport to watch?
 A: Baseball

Q: What is a hobby that you have that most people do not know you have?
A: Making clay sculptures

Q: Do you have any pre-race rituals?
A: I tend to jump a bit, shake out my legs, hit my arms and legs to get any possible knots out right before my races. I also crack my neck to each side to get it loose.

 A: NC State or University of Kentucky

Q: What is your best memory/experience playing your sport?
A: Being able to contribute points to my team at ACCs by making two A-finals and a B-final

Q: Why did you choose Louisville?
A: From the very first time I stepped on campus as a junior recruit, it just felt like home. Louisville checked off everything on my list of things I was looking for in a school, but it also went beyond that and included things that I had never even knew I needed, like FCA.
Â
Q: How do you know coming to Louisville was the right decision for you?Â
A: I have never been happier with my training, my relationships with the team and coaches, and my performance than I have been while at Louisville. It is the absolute best decision I have ever made.

Q: What is one thing our program has taught you?
A: It has taught me to look at not just swimming, but also life, in a more mindful way. I am way more intentional with everything I do now than I was before I got here.

Q: What is your favorite thing about our team/program?Â
 A: The positive environment and team atmosphere.
Â
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at Louisville?
 A: Being able to experience the whole city's support behind us as we represent them is something special.

Q: What do you miss most about being on campus?
 A: Practicing with the team and seeing friends outside of the team.

Q: What are you doing with yourself during your free time?Â
 A: I've been watching movies, hanging out with my family, and working out.

Q: What's one thing you wish you had with you during this time?
 A: A pool that I could train in

Q: How are you continuing to stay in shape during this time?
 A: I've been fortunate enough to have access to a weight room, so I have been lifting consistently. I've also been running, biking, and doing upper body circuits.
