Delaney Snyder Misses Working Out with Her Team
April 23, 2020 | Women's Soccer
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After overcoming an injury, Delaney Snyder was excited to grow and develop during the spring season.
However, the coronavirus pandemic forced those plans to come to an abrupt halt.
"It is very unfortunate that everything had to be paused," said Snyder. "For me, I love being around my teammates because they bring the energy and the competitive spirit out of everyone when we are together. That is what makes doing individual workouts so difficult. The team-effect is what I miss the most."
Before getting the news that the spring season and athletic facilities were closed, Snyder spent spring break in Tampa with her mother and brother. The plan was for a little relaxation before gearing up for the spring schedule and wrapping up classes for the spring semester.
Now Snyder has had to find new ways to stay motivated and continue the momentum from her sophomore year.
"During my free time, I try to stick to a schedule every day," said Snyder. "That includes waking up and working out, eating at the same times every day. Also doing homework after I eat and training. I then find time to relax and do some yoga."
Snyder finished the 2019 season ranked third on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. She saw action in 17 games and earned 10 starts. She was excited about getting back on the field during spring practices.
"Practices were going well," said Snyder. "I finally got back into practice after my injury, so I was excited to grow and learn more this spring."
While at home she likes to cook in her free time and has also binge watched both season of You and Netflix. Snyder is continuing to work out and stay in shape until she can return to campus.
"Our strength coach, Caryn, sends out our workouts every morning for us to do," Snyder said. "I try to do those every morning and every other day add in a bike ride or some other workout to keep in shape."
Snyder and the rest of the team have stayed connected through group messages, Snapchat, and social media. But it is not the same as being on campus with them.
"I miss my teammates," said Snyder. "On and off the field, I spend a lot of my time with them so that is one piece of campus I definitely miss them the most."
