November 01, 2020 | Women's Soccer
The ACC Tournament will be played in Cary, N.C. Nov. 10-15.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's soccer has earned the No. 6 seed in the 2020 ACC Women's Soccer championship. They will open the tournament against No. 3 Virginia on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. ET.
The championship will be held in its entirety at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Quarterfinal action begins Tuesday, Nov. 10, semifinals are Friday, Nov. 13, and the final is Sunday, Nov. 15.
Florida State (8-0, 8-0 ACC) and North Carolina (9-0, 8-0) both finished the year unbeaten in conference matches and were tabbed ACC regular-season co-champions. The Seminoles won the tiebreaker with the Tar Heels to earn the No. 1 seed, which was decided by goal differential in conference games (21-16).
Louisville, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech ended the fall season with 12 points apiece in ACC play to create a three-way tie for sixth place. The seeds were determined first by the goal differential tiebreaker, which gave Notre Dame the eighth seed. Louisville and Virginia Tech were then compared as a two-way tie, with Louisville earning the advantage by winning the head-to-head matchup, which resulted in Louisville as the sixth seed and Virginia Tech as the seventh seed.
The field includes all six of the conference's ranked teams in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Florida State, No. 3 Clemson, No. 5 Duke, No. 10 Virginia and No. 13 Notre Dame.
The 2020 ACC Women's Soccer Championship will not be open to the public, but ACC Network will carry the quarterfinals and semifinals, while the final will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
