
Five Cardinals Selected to the All-ACC Academic Women's Soccer Team

Ekic, Ferraro, Kouzelos, Rivers and Snyder earn All-ACC academic honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville seniors Arianna Ferraro and Brooklynn Rivers, juniors Emina Ekic and Gabby Kouzelos and sophomore Delaney Snyder were named to the 2019 All-ACC Academic Women's Soccer Team on Tuesday afternoon.
A three-time All-ACC Academic Team selection, Ekic earned second team All-American honors by the United Soccer Coaches Association for the second straight year while also earning first team all-region honors. Following the regular season, she was named a first team All-ACC selection. Ekic finished the season as the team's leading scorer with eight goals and eight assists for 24 points. Ekic converted a career-high 3 of 4 penalty kicks on the year. While also finishing the year with five game-winning goals, ranking her third in the ACC and 27th nationally. An exercise science major, Ekic was also a Red and Black Scholar and selected to the ACC Honor Roll.
Rivers was a first team all-region selection by the United Soccer Coaches Association. She earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors for the second straight year. The senior forward finished her final season as the second leading scorer for the Cardinals with 10 points, finishing with five goals. She earned third team All-ACC honors and finished her career with the Cardinals scoring 21 goals and dishing out 13 assists for 55 points. A communications major, Rivers was also selected to the ACC Honor Roll.
Kouzelos earns her second straight All-ACC Academic Team honor. She earned second team All-ACC honors this year. A starting goalkeeper for the Cardinals, Kouzelos played 1765 minutes started in all 20 matches for the Cardinals, earning a 13-5-2 record. The redshirt junior helped the Cardinals to 10 shutouts this season while grabbing 51 saves. She owns the school record in career shutouts and ranks second in career goals against average at 0.93. The exercise science major was also selected to the ACC Honor Roll and a Red and Black Scholar.
Ferraro, a four-year starting defender, started in 19 games for the Cardinals. She helped lead the Louisville defense to 10 shutouts in her final season while dishing out three assists. She finished her career with one goal and six assists. She also helped the Cardinals to 30 career shutouts. The exercise science major has been a member of the All-ACC Honor Roll and a Red and Black Scholar.
Snyder started in 10 matches for the Cardinals while playing in 17. She finished the season ranked third on the team in scoring with four goals and dished out one assist for nine points. She ranked second on the team with three game-winning goals. The sophomore is a sport administration major was also selected to the ACC Honor Roll.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the team.
