No. 11/13 Cardinals Set to Face No. 2/8 Texas, No. 4/18 Indiana

Louisville will compete in a tri-meet against the Longhorns and Hoosiers
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams will face the No. 2/8 Longhorns and the No. 4/18 Hoosiers in a tri-meet on Nov. 8-9 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center in Bloomington, Ind.

Friday's session will begin at 1 p.m. and will be swum in long course meters while Saturday's start time is set for 10 a.m. and will be raced in short course yards.

About the Cardinals
The Cardinals are fresh off a sweep of Notre Dame as the men took down the No. 18 Fighting Irish 168-132 and the women defeated the 23rd-ranked ACC foe 162-138. Sophie Cattermole achieved an NCAA 'B' standard en route to setting a new pool record in the 1650 freestyle with the fastest time in the nation so far this season. Daniel Pinto broke the program record on the 3-meter board and Nicolas Albiero (100 fly, 200 fly, 100 free) was Louisville's only triple-event winner.

Louisville had another top-25 matchup earlier this season when the Cardinal women fell to the No. 3 Lady Vols 172.5-127.5 as the men dropped a 150.5-149.5 decision against the 10th-ranked Volunteers. Louisville took the top spot in 15 events against Tennessee as Pinto and Molly Fears swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter. Evgenii Somov (100 breast, 200 breast), Daniel Sos (200 back, 200 IM) and Albiero (100 back, 100 fly) were also among the meet's double-event winners.

History was made last season for the Cardinals as they became the first ACC program in history to have both its men's and women's teams finish among the top-five in the team standings at the NCAA Championships in the same year. The women's team recorded their highest finish in program history with a fourth-place showing at NCAAs while the men's team finished a program-high fifth place. The Cardinal men were the team runners-up at the ACC Championships and the women secured third place.

Scouting Texas
The second-ranked Longhorn men defeated No. 17 Kentucky 179-109 during their season opener, winning 12 events and both relays. Diver Jordan Windle swept both boards and Chris Stake won the 100 fly and 100 back. After securing 11 victories, the No. 18 Texas women also took down the 14th-ranked Wildcats 172-127. Freshman Kelly Pash took the top spot in the 200 free, 200 fly, and 400 IM while Evie Pfiefer won the 500 free and 1000 free.

The Texas men bested No. 7 Texas A&M 191-111 last weekend as the women posted a 165-135 victory over the 16th-ranked Aggies. Caspar Corbeau swept the breaststroke events, Windle again won both boards, and Drew Kibbler raced to first in the 500 free and took second in the 200 free. Pash was a triple-event winner for the second-straight meet and Julia Cook collected wins in the 100 back and 100 free. Alison Gibson won the 1-meter board and took third in the 3-meter.

The Longhorn men collected five National titles to secure the runner-up spot at the NCAA Championships last season after securing their 40th-straight conference title. Texas claimed their seventh-consecutive women's Big 12 title and finished fifth overall in the team standings at NCAAs.

The fourth-ranked Hoosier men, who have won 34-straight dual meets, start their season with a 4-0 record after defeating No. 17 Kentucky, No. 18 Notre Dame, No. 6 Michigan, and No. 23 Iowa. Mohamed Samy has remained undefeated in the 100 free, 200 free, and 200 IM so far this season while Zane Backes has not lost a 100 breast race. Gabriel Fantoni (100 back, 200 back, 100 fly) recorded three wins in the tri-meet against the Wildcats and Fighting Irish and Mory Gould swept both boards in the showdown versus the Wolverines and Hawkeyes.

The women of 18th-ranked Indiana took down No. 23 Notre Dame 172-128 but fell to No. 14 Kentucky 161-139 in their season-opener. Cassy Hernberg (500 free, 1000 free), Noelle Peplowski (100 breast, 200 breast), and Cora Dupre (100 free, 200 free) were among the Hoosiers' double-event winners in the tri-meet against the Fighting Irish and Wildcats. Peplowski (100 breast, 200 breast) and Dupre (100 free) have both achieved NCAA 'B' standards in their respective events.

Indiana is coming off their second-straight third-place finish at the men's 2019 NCAA Championships after securing their third-consecutive Big Ten title. The Hoosier women captured their sixth Big Ten Championship crown in program history before going on to finish ninth at NCAAs.
