Vincent Shares Spotlight With Sister
January 07, 2019 | Women's Soccer
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior defender Gabrielle Vincent wasn't the only family member bringing home awards over the holidays. Vincent and her sister Marissa, a sophomore midfielder at UNC Wilmington, both earned United Soccer Coaches Association all-region honors for the 2018 season.
The Vincent sisters join elite company with two family members earning all-region honors. They are the only set of sisters to earn the honor this year. Gabrielle earned second team all-atlantic region honors while Marissa earned second team all-east region honors.
Louisville's Vincent earned second team honors for the first time in her career. The senior was a starting centerback for the Cardinals all four seasons. She helped guide Louisville to seven shutouts this season, while dishing out one assist. Vincent also served as team captain the last two seasons and helped guide the Cardinals to their best ACC finish and an NCAA Tournament appearance in her final season.
At UNCW, Vincent started all 16 contests this year for the Seahawks and claimed a spot on the All-Colonial Athletic Association second team. She scored the first goal of her college career in a 3-1 win over William & Mary on Sept. 27, before netting goals against James Madison and Delaware.
