Louisville improves to 3-0 after the first road win of the season
DAYTON, Ohio -- The University of Louisville women's soccer team improved to 3-0-0 on the season with a 1-0 win over Dayton on Thursday night at a packed Baujan Field.
The Cardinals got on the board first in the 22nd minute. The lone goal of the match was scored on an own goal after Delaney Snyder dribbled to the endline and served the ball into the box. Dayton tried for a clearance and the ball found the back of the net.
Louisville came close to another goal in the 30th minute when Nadege L'Esperance had her shot said just over the cross bar. The Cardinals finished the first half with a 4-2 shot advantage and a 1-0 advantage in corner kicks.Â
Just like the first half, Louisville dominated play on the offensive end. The Cardinals had a chance to score in the 85th minute when Brooklynn Rivers' shot hit the crossbar. Maisie Whitsett had a dangerous shot that was saved in the 88th minute.Â
Louisville finished the match with a 14-4 shot advantage while both teams finished with two corner kicks. Sophomore Emina Ekic led the Cardinals with three shots, including one on goal. Â Gabby Kouzelos finished with one save while Dayton's Kaelyn Johns finished with five.
The Cardinal defense held the Flyers to just two shots in each half. Kouzelos and the Louisville defense earned their first shutout of the season. Â

The Cardinals will be back in action on Sunday as they travel to Michigan for a 2:00 p.m. match. It will be the first meeting between the two teams.  Â
