Women's Soccer Adds Amari Hopkins to the 2018 Class

Hopkins joins the Cardinals after spending one season at Kansas
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes announced the addition of Amari Hopkins to the 2018 Cardinal roster. The 5-4 forward from Stafford, Va. joins the Cardinals after spending her freshman season at the University of Kansas.
"We are very excited to add a player of Amari's abilities and experiences to our roster," said Ferguson-Dayes. "She played in the Big 12 as a freshman and is well aware of the demands at the college level. She's a tremendous person, a great player, and a serious student – all the qualities that will make her a wonderful asset to our program."

AT KANSAS
Played her freshman year for the Jayhawks … Saw action in all 18 matches for the Jayhawks, earning one start against Nebraska … Finished the year with one assist against Texas Tech for one point … Had two shots on the season, both on goal.
MOUNTAIN VIEW HIGH SCHOOL
Played her freshman and sophomore seasons under head coach Steve Cassiday … Led the Wildcats with 10 goals and recorded 12 assists as a sophomore in 2014 … Was named first team all-conference, second team all-region and second team all-area … Also helped the Wildcats to the Commonwealth District Conference title in 2014 … Earned Mountain View Academic Achievement Award.
CLUB (SPORTING MARYLAND FUTSAL CLUB/FC VIRGINIA/PRINCE WILLIAM SC)
Was a five-year member of FC Virginia, won the U15 NPL National Final, Region 1 Championship and Virginia State Cup, all in 2015 … She also added a Region 1 and Virginia State Cup championship in 2014 as a member of the Prince William Soccer Club … As a member of Sporting Maryland Futsal, won the U17 Maryland Futsal State Cup.
OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT
A U.S. Soccer Training Center participant from 2013-15 … Took part in the U13/U14 Girls Super Y League ODP Camp in 2015 … Participated in at the 2013 USYS ODP National Training Camp in Arizona … Also a part of the 2013 USYS Region 1 ODP Pool … Named to the 2012-13 VYSA ODP 2000 State and District Team.
PERSONAL
Daughter of John and Patrice Hopkins … Has three younger siblings: Alexandra (10), Aden (8) and Andraya (3) … Mother, Patrice, was a two-time All-American in track & field at George Mason … Majoring in psychology.
