LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville freshman Mollie Rouse received a call-up to compete with the England Women's Under-20 National Team at the upcoming La Manga Tournament in La Manga, Spain. The Young Lionesses will take on China (Thursday, April 5), the United States (Saturday, April 7) and Norway (Monday, April 9) in the round-robin tournament.
A fixture with England's U-17, U-19 and now U-20 National Teams, Rouse competed with the England U-20 national team in the 2017 Women's Nike International Friendlies held in December. She was one of seven of England's 20-player squad helped John Griffiths' U17 side reach the quarterfinals of the 2016 World Cup.
In her freshman season, Rouse saw action in 15 matches and started in 10 for the Cardinals. She had a strong freshman season despite arriving late due to her national team obligations. Rouse was a big contributor to the Louisville midfield, finishing her rookie season with two goals and one assist. She dished out the game-winning assist in the Cards' 2-1 win over Clemson.
This week's matches will serve as preparation for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, held Aug. 5-24 in France.
