LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's golf team begins postseason play this weekend, when it travels east to compete at the 30th ACC Championship from Saturday through Monday in Greensboro, N.C.
The Cardinals, one of nine teams ranked inside Golfstat's top 30, are paired with Miami and Virginia and are scheduled to tee off Saturday from hole No. 1 starting at 9 a.m. The 12-team field is competing on the par-72, 6,122-yard championship course at the Grandover Resort & Conference Center.
Louisville, making its fourth appearance at the championship since joining the conference in 2014-15, features a lineup of Lauren Hartlage, Molly Skapik, Olivia Cason, Kristin Engle, and Delaney Shah.
Historically, Louisville is putting together one of its most successful seasons. The team has attained three titles, tied with the 2013-14 team for the most regular-season crowns in school history. It matches Duke for the most in the conference. Louisville is on track to set the school record for scoring average, with a 292.9 mark that is nearly two strokes than the previous record set in 2013-14.
Hartlage has been instrumental in the team's success. The reigning ACC Freshman of the Year, she is pacing the team in stroke average (71.75) and rounds even or below par (17). Both marks rank atop the school's single-season record book. Hartlage's seven top-10 finishes, tied for most in the ACC, are second most in a season in program history.
Skapik is enjoying one of her most productive seasons. The senior is second on the team with a 73.36 stroke average and has four top-10 showings. She recorded 12 rounds even or below par, nearly double her combined freshman and sophomore totals.
Cason, who boasts the third-best scoring average on the team with a 74.36, has a pair of top-10 finishes. The junior earned the best finish at an ACC Championship in program history, tying for fourth with a 1-under-par 215 at last year's event.
Engle and Shah each are making their first appearance at the postseason competition.
The freshman, Engle has played in all 10 tournaments this year and logged a 75.29 average. She finished inside the top 20 four times this season. Shah has participated in four tournaments.
Following the completion of the ACC Championship, Louisville will await its NCAA fate on April 25. Regionals are being played May 7-9 at four different locations: Austin, Texas; Madison, Wis.; San Francisco, Calif.; and, Tallahassee, Fla.
