Women’s Golf Finishes Second at Cardinal Classic

Veronika Exposito finished second overall, her second-straight Top 5 finish
SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's golf team placed second overall at the Cardinal Classic on Monday at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville. The Cardinals finished 8-over-par 584 over the two-round event. A total of three Louisville players finished within the Top 10 in the five-team event.
Coming off her first individual win over her career, Veronika Exposito tallied a runner-up finish at the Cardinal Classic. She was 3-under-par 141 over the two rounds to finish second overall. In the first round, she was 2-under-par-70 with three birdies and followed it up with 1-under-par 71with six birdies. She has had five-straights rounds under par dating back to the beginning of the Bentwater Women's Collegiate.
Bailey Burkett carded a Top 5 finish with an even-par 144 and was tied for fourth overall. She was 3-under-par 69 with four birdies in the first round and then 3-over-par 75 in the second round. It was her second round of the season in the 60's, tied for the team lead on the year.
Thienna Huynh finished tied for seventh overall with a 3-over-par 147 for the tournament. She was 5-over-par 77 in the first round and bounced back with a 2-under-par 70 with three birdies in the second round. It was her third Top 10 finish of the season.
Millie Cottrell finished 12th overall after an 8-over-par 152 for the tournament. She was 4-over-par 76 in the first and second rounds with three total birdies. Emree Cameron was one stroke behind with a 9-over-par 153 and finished 13th overall. She was 5-over-par 77 in the first round and 4-over-par 76 in the second with three total birdies. Madison Moman rounded out the Cards with a 10-over-par 154 and finished 14th overall. She was 2-over-par 74 in the first round and 8-over-par 80 in the second round with four total birdies.
The Cardinals will be back in action this upcoming weekend as they take part in the Ironwood Invitational. Hosted by East Carolina, the three-day tournament begins on Sunday, April 5 and will conclude on Tuesday, April 7.
