Swimming Wins Three Medals in First Night at Mesa

Dahlia Wins Gold in 100 butterfly
The University of Louisville swimming team won three medals in the first night of competition at the TYR Pro Series in  at the Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa, Ariz.

Daniel Sos won BRONZE in the 400M IM with a time of 4:22.98. Carlos Claverie was fifth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:26.37.

Kelsi Worrell Dahlia used a strong second 50 to win gold in the 100M butterfly in 58.09, edging Louise Hansson, who took silver in 58.62. Dahlia and Hansson are the top two fastest swimmers in history in this event. Mallory Comerford was the only other swimmer under a minute in the final with a time of 59.34 for 4th place. Grace Oglesby was 12th overall in the event with a time of 1:01.54.

Zach Harting placed 8th in the 100M Butterfly with a time of 54.46. Nick Albiero was ninth overall in with a time of 54.89. Nikkos Sofianidis touched 14th going 56.12.

Nick Albiero was fifth in the 200M Backstroke with a time of 2:04.23. Nikkos Sofianidis touched 11th in 2:08.19. Daniel Sos clocked in at 16th in the 2:13.93.

Morgan Friesen was 7th in the 200M Breaststroke with a time of 2:34.45.
Carlos Claverie won bronze in the 200M Breaststroke in 2:12.78.

Mallory Comerford finished 7th with a time of 2:02.72 in the 200M Freestyle. Sophie Cattermole touches 12th with a time of 2:04.03.

This weekend's competition at Mesa is the third of six stops on the TYR Pro Swim Series and will feature a star-studded field of national and international competitors. Prelims will begin at 9 a.m. PST Thursday through Saturday with finals beginning at 5 p.m. PST on Thursday and 4:40 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Thursday and Friday will be conducted in the traditional prelims/finals format with the top 16 swimmers from prelims advancing to the 'A' and 'B' finals. On Saturday, the 400 free will have two heats of finals with the addition of a "shoot-out style final" for the 50 meter events. The competition concludes on Sunday at 8 a.m. PST with the timed finals of the men's and women's 1500 meter free.

NBC Sports will provide coverage of each finals session, including a live broadcast of Saturday night's finals on the NBC Sports Network at 8 p.m. EST. Thursday night's finals can be found on the NBC Sports app and Saturday night's finals can be found on the Olympic Channel at 8 p.m. EST. USA Swimming will provide a livestream of each prelims session on usaswimming.org.
