Barna sets a school record in 50 freestyle prelims

In the first full day of preliminary racing at the 2018 ACC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, the University of Louisville will send 13 swimmers into the finals Friday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Marcelo Acosta was the top qualifier in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:18.01, seeded eighth in the A-final. Zach Harting will be the second seed in the B-final after posting a 4:18.52. T.C. Smith will be third in the same heat with a 4:19.04 time. Jarrett Jones qualified 14^th overall with a 4:20.36. Sam Steele will be the second seed in the C-final with a 4:21.12.

In the 200-IM, the Cards send three to the A-final led by Daniel Sos (1:44.72), Etay Gurevich (1:44.81) and Carlos Claverie. In the B-final, Jonathan Zoucha will be seeded fourth with a 1:45.42 just ahead of teammate Evgenii Somov's 1:45.72. Keegan Foulke will swim in the C-final with a time of 1:46.61.

In the 50 free, Andrej Barna set a school record enroute to the third seed with a time of 19.15 in the A-Final. Matyi Kovacs will swim in the B-final and qualified 14^th overall with a 19.76.

The Cards are seeded third in the 200 free relay in the A-final.
