
Ekic and Whitsett Earn a Second Top Drawer Soccer Honor

Both Ekic and Whitsett ranked in the Top 100
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Emina Ekic and Maisie Whitsett pulled in a second postseason honor from Top Drawer Soccer this week. Ekic was ranked 26th in the Top 100 Upperclassman list. Whitsett was ranked 17th among the Top 100 Freshmen.
This is the second Top Drawer Soccer Postseason honor for Ekic. Earlier this week she was named to one of their Best XI teams. She earned second team All-American honors by the United Soccer Coaches Association at the end of November.
Ekic was also named a first team all-region selection after an impressive sophomore campaign. Following the regular season, she earned first team All-ACC honors. Coming off an injury from last season, she was outstanding in ACC play this season. Ekic, the 2017 ACC Freshman of the Year, finished the regular season with seven goals and five assists for 19 points. She helped the Cardinals score in five of the last six matches, including two game-winning goals. She led the team with 47 shots and 22 shots on goal.
Whitsett had a breakthrough rookie year, finishing the season as the Cardinals' second leading scorer. Earlier this week she was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI teams. She played in every match for the Cardinals and finished with 20 points. She led the team with nine goals and also dished out two assists. She finished the year second on the team in shots with 41, including 21 on goal. She was also second on the team with three game-winning goals.
